A Scottish ultramarathoner who won bronze in the race from Manchester to Liverpool has been disqualified and reported to the British Athletics Federation for serious fraud, because instead of running she was driven in a car during a section of the race.

In the 80-kilometer long race, Joasia Zakrževski, instead of running all of them, ran 76 kilometers, and she covered the rest in one section by driving a car. The Scot thought she could fool the organizers, but was found out by a system used by the organizers that determined she was using a means of transport.

She was caught after she “ran” a 1.6 kilometer section in one minute and 40 seconds. After the inspection, they concluded that it was a fraud, because it was unrealistic to pass those kilometers normally in such a short time.
