The organizers of the World Cup in Qatar announced today that beer, however, will not be sold to fans in the area around the stadiums, local media reports.
The announcement comes just two days before the start of the World Cup, the first to be held in a Middle Eastern country.
The World Cup’s main sponsor, Budweiser, had originally agreed to sell alcoholic beer to ticket fans inside the circle surrounding each of the eight stadiums, three hours before and one hour after each match.
