Former Italian football player Luigi Riva died at the age of 79 in a hospital in Italy, and will be remembered for his performances for Cagliari from 1963 to 1976, but also the best scorer in the Italian national team shirt.

In his career, Riva played in 374 matches for Cagliari, scoring 205 goals and two assists, while he became the top scorer in Italy with 35 goals in 42 appearances.

After the end of his football career, Riva also worked as a director in the Azzurri national team.
