It all started with Cristiano Ronaldo, after him came several other top players, but it seems that it wasn’t all about the money. The Catalan newspaper Sport claims that several footballers regret such a decision, only six months after they decided to switch European football to Arab football.

Many factors play into that: a different climate, a culture they haven’t encountered, a different football philosophy, half-empty stands, the lack of women’s rights faced by their wives, and all this heralds a football exodus from Saudi Arabia this coming summer.

The most common example is Jordan Henderson, who is ready to do anything to return to England. His annual salary is 40 million euros, but to earn it, he must stay in Saudi Arabia for at least two years. If he leaves earlier, he will not only be left without that money, but he has to pay compensation of eight million euros.
