In Budva, the first goalkeeper of the Montenegrin national football team, Matija Šarkić, died.

The local media reported that Sharkić’s health suddenly worsened, his friends called for emergency help, but the doctors failed to prevent the worst. The goalkeeper died at the age of 27 as a member of the English club Millwall, where he joined last summer after previously being a member of several other clubs from the Island.

For the national team of Montenegro, Šarkić made nine appearances, but impressed in the recent match against Belgium when, despite the 0-2 defeat, he made a number of outstanding interventions. In him, the Montenegrin football public saw a solution for the goalkeeper position for the next decade.
