Danes were stunned when their favorite Queen Margrethe announced during her New Year’s speech that she would pass the throne to her eldest son Frederik. The very next day, La Glace’s pastry team quickly set to work preparing a new royal recipe for the king. And the result is these wonderful chocolate cakes. These cakes fit for a king are made in a round mold with chocolate and the Danish favorite marzipan, then “crowned” with crème caramel, which is thicker than mousse. In the center is a salted caramel and hazelnut praline, all sprinkled with gold, of course, and decorated with toasted hazelnuts and three types of chocolate.
