Demonstrators stormed the US Congress building demanding a ceasefire in Gaza

Dressed in black T-shirts emblazoned with the words “Jews say: Cease fire now” and “Not in our name”, they sat clapping and chanting in the Conon building, which houses a number of offices.

“Protests are not allowed inside the Congress buildings,” police announced on Platform X. “We warned the protesters that they had to stop the protest and when they didn’t listen to us we started arresting them.”

The protest is organized by the movement “Jewish Voice for Peace”, which calls for a truce and opposes the “ethnic cleansing of Palestinians carried out by the Israeli government”.

Earlier, hundreds of people gathered near the Capitol, asking the Biden administration to push for a ceasefire.
