Accommodation booking site Booking.com (Booking) has not paid money to many hotels and other partners around the world for months due to what it says is a “technical problem”, the Guardian reports.
Portal partners in Thailand, Indonesia and Europe have the most problems.
The standard procedure seems to be that the user books a room through the portal and decides to pay in advance, after which the site takes that money and forwards it to the hotel without commission.
However, Booking’s partners have been reporting payment problems since July, with some of them saying they had not received payments for many months before, even though the portal had been regularly receiving payments from users, Tanjug reports.
In August, Booking Group reported total revenue of $5.5 billion and profit of $1.3 billion for the second quarter of 2023.
