Geologists are expecting more tremors after the deadly earthquake in Morocco

At least 800 people died in the strong earthquake that hit Morocco, and geologists expect more tremors.

Several hundred were injured, and the earthquake also caused great material damage.

Most of the victims and damages are in hard-to-reach mountain areas.

Eid al-Tarazi, a professor of geology at the Hashemite University of Amman, says that this is an active tectonic area and that numerous aftershocks are expected in the coming period. The shaking happened last night around 11 pm, and according to the US Geological Institute, the magnitude of the earthquake was seven degrees, and the epicenter was about 70 kilometers south of Marrakech. The earthquake was also felt in the coastal cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Essaouira.
