Novak Djokovic is the first semi-finalist at the US Open, a status he acquired with tonight’s victory over American Taylor Fritz (9) in three sets. That not only put him on track for another major trophy, but also made him the new record holder for the most Grand Slam semifinals.
At Wimbledon, he tied, and tonight he surpassed Roger Federer, who reached 46 semi-finals in his career. On Friday, Djokovic will play the 47th in his career and the 13th at the US Open. Rafael Nadal is third on that list with 38 semi-finals.
