He was still wearing his Ferrari uniform when thieves made off with his £500,000 Richard Mille watch. He immediately started chasing them, and his coach and several other people from the audience, who were right next to the hotel, came to help. 

After a short time, they managed to catch Sainz and get his watch back, and the police were immediately called and the thieves arrested. This is not the first time a Formula 1 driver has been the target of a watch robbery. In April 2022, Charles Leclerc’s watch was stolen, and it was taken from Lando Norris when he was watching the final of EURO 2020, between England and Italy, at Wembley.
