A discovery by an Indian rover changes views on the moon

India’s lunar rover Pragyan, which was landed on the moon by a spacecraft as part of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, sent back to Earth the first scientific data that changes ideas about the south pole of the moon, as a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius was measured. , while until now there was an opinion that it could be between 20 and 30 degrees, the Indian Space Research Organization said.

The X platform organization (Twitter) said that the temperature of the upper layer of the lunar soil around the south pole is being measured to understand the thermal behavior of the satellite’s surface.

As stated, the rover is equipped with a temperature probe with a mechanism that can measure the temperature of the lunar soil to a depth of 10 centimeters.
