The American Noah Lyles, who has two gold medals at 200 meters, is the new world champion in the fastest section, the hundredth, after winning today with a time of 9.84 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Lyles stormed to gold in the final quarter of the course to win ahead of Botswana sprinter Lesley Tebogo, whose silver was a real surprise, while Britain’s Jarnell Hughes finished third, 0.003 seconds behind Tebogo in an extremely close race.
