Why Dubrovnik Banned Dragging Suitcases

With its incredibly steep and uneven cobblestone streets, Dubrovnik is not the easiest place to lug a suitcase on wheels. Even so, visitors dragging noisy suitcases through the city streets on their way to hotels and other accommodation facilities have already become a common sight in the southern Croatian city – until now…

Namely, the city has officially banned wheeled suitcases from the streets of the old city center, which means that tourists will have no choice but to carry their suitcases. The new policy was presented by the mayor Mato Franković, who said that it is an attempt to suppress noise pollution, writes Jutarnji.

The local population began to be bothered by being woken up at night by the sound of suitcases knocking on the stone streets. Those who violate this rule could be fined 265 euros.
