
The digital euro could be available in three to four years, Fabio Panetta, a member of the executive board of the European Central Bank (ECB), announced today.
In the interview published today, Panetta said that the European Commission (EC) will propose a regulatory framework for the digital euro in June, and a decision will be made in October to start the preparatory phase in which this digital currency will be developed.
The preparatory phase may take two or three years, and the digital euro will be available in three to four years, he said.
