Former world champion in Formula 1, Brazilian Nelson Piquet must pay a fine of 950,000 dollars for racist comments directed at Mercedes driver and seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton.

A Brazilian court on Friday fined Pique, who used insulting words about the former world champion in an interview in 2021.

The ex-driver’s lawyer apologized to Hamilton for Piquet’s comments, but despite this, the Briton did not drop the lawsuit.

Piquet won three F1 titles in 1981, 1983 and 1987, with his last race in 1991.
