Russian scientists have invented a smart fabric resistant to fire and water

Scientists from the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design have invented a fabric finish that allows materials of different colors to be resistant to fire, water and other harmful factors at the same time, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education told Sputnik of Russia.
The base consists of metaaramid fibers, which in their raw state can withstand a temperature of 450 degrees Celsius, but they are poorly dyed.
Scientists managed to solve this problem not only by producing tannin with a finishing color but also by expanding the temperature ranges of its use. After such processing, the smart fabric can withstand temperatures from minus 80 degrees to plus 540 degrees Celsius and at the same time retains its strength.
According to Russian scientists, such fabrics will be used for the production of special clothing, fabrics for furniture and covers, as well as harmless materials for the interior treatment of means of transport: ships, cars, trains and spacecraft
