The death toll from the series of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria continues to rise. So far, around 20:00 CET, 2,724 people have been confirmed dead. The number of injured rose to 13,580. Of them, at least 11,119 were injured in Turkey, and 2,461 in Syria.

The number of dead in Turkey is 1,651. In Syria, that number is currently 1,073 people. Of these, 593 people in Syria have died in areas controlled by the Assad regime. In the area controlled by the paramilitary opposition in Syria, the death toll has risen to 480.

The region of northwest Syria hit by the deadly earthquake has 4.1 million people relying on humanitarian aid, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs .
