Alec Baldwin has been officially charged with manslaughter for killing Halina Hutchins on the set of their movie Rust in October 2021.

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico formally filed the charges today.

They announced their intention to indict Baldwin earlier this month, but delayed filing the case to give themselves time to explain the controversial decision.

Baldwin has vowed to fight the charges.

He says he never pulled the trigger and it was a tragic accident.

If found guilty, he faces up to five years in prison. The gunman, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, was also charged.
