Croatian tennis player Borna Coric made history as the worst ranked player on the ATPS list to triumph at a Masters tournament, after he celebrated at the meeting in Cincinnati with a triumph in the grand final against Stefanos Tsitsipas (7-6, 6-2).
He reached the cup as the 152nd tennis player in the world, and the American media immediately began to compare his success with Goran Ivanisevic’s victory at “Wimbledon” in 2001, when he performed with a special invitation. For the Croat, this triumph will also mean an incredible jump on the ATP list, where he will reach the 29th position, which instead of qualifying will bring him the status of holder of the upcoming “US Open”.
Coric, who became the fourth Croatian player to win a Masters title after Ivanisevic, Ivan Ljubicic and Marin Cilic.
